When we own capital and invest in companies, we have a responsibility and the power to effect change. These are greater than most of us realise. We would like to show you just how great here. The philosophy of active ownership is part of Globalance’s “raison d’être”.
The term “stewardship” is used to describe internationally recognised principles of good asset management. The term describes “the careful and responsible handling of something that has been entrusted to you”. As an important part of our stewardship, we vote annually on proposals at our portfolio companies (proxy voting) and enter into a dialogue with company representatives about their impact on our environment and society (shareholder engagement).
Companies hold an Annual General Meeting every year. At these meetings, the company’s proposals and sometimes proposals brought forward by shareholders are put to a vote. At Globalance, we vote on the proposals of our portfolio companies worldwide every year. This takes place via the ISS technical infrastructure and is known as “proxy voting”. We base this on the ISS Sustainability Proxy Voting Guidelines.
You can access the results of our votes in 2023 by clicking on the button below.
Our commitment to being an active owner and fully exercising our participation rights is based, among other things, on the principles of the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investing (UN PRI). In developing the following principles, we adhere to the recommendations of the Stewardship Principles of the International Corporate Governance Network, ICGN, as well as the Swiss Stewardship Code, which will be launched in 2023.
